A recent survey by International Data Corporation, a leading IT
consultancy, reported that Linux is now the No 1 Unix variant in the
world, and the only OS apart from Microsoft Windows to have grown in
market share in 1997. And analysts say it has a fighting chance of
upsetting Microsoft’s monopoly.
